It was two unfortunate results to Carlisle for the Knoxville Soccer Squads on Thursday night. The girls ran into a buzzsaw as the Wildcats scored ten goals in the first half and invoked the mercy rule at halftime to win 10-0. Carlisle controlled possession and only allowed the Panthers two shots. Senior players Taylor Jones and Abby Wadle tell KNIA/KRLS Sports this first week may be the toughest week of the season and they will need to stay positive.

Taylor: “We have to stay positive, we knew it was going to be a very difficult week, and we will get through it.”
Abby: “We just have to keep a positive mindset, and stay focused on the fundamentals at practice and have a positive mindset at practice.”

Meanwhile, 24 miles away in Carlisle the boys fell to the Wildcats in their season opener 4-2. It was back-and-forth throughout with the Panthers fighting back from a two goal deficit early on. Knoxville tied the match with 22:00 left and it stayed even until Carlisle got two goals in the last 6:00 of the match. Goals came from Emmett Schmidt and Brock Benner, Schmidt assisted on one of the goals as well. Bryce Metier came up with nine saves. The boys are 0-1 and host Oskaloosa in their home opener at Randy Wilson Track on Monday while the girls host Williamsburg on Thursday.
