The City of Indianola passed the FY2023 budget earlier this year, detailing the priorities for the city and Indianola City Council, which included budgeting for additional employees in the Community Development department.
City Chief Financial Officer Andy Lent tells KNIA News the city is planning ahead for anticipated growth.
“We believe that a lot of the economic development that has been happening in the other suburbs around Des Moines is finally coming here. We’re going to be experiencing a lot of growth, so we want to be prepared for it as we move forward. We have a staffing study we are going to be doing this year, just to make sure we are on track. We did a similar study for police and fire in 2018 and hired additional staff as a result of that, and this time we are going to be looking at other departments to make sure we are adequately staffed for the future.”
