The school vouchers program has been a hot topic this legislative session and the Senate has passed a bill that included the program. State Representative Jon Thorup spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about his thoughts on it.
“Maybe someday down the road in a few years, it is something we can look at. For right now we have a teacher shortage and my impression talking to school administrators there’s a big pile of red tape. The administrative tasks required for public schools are overwhelming. I feel that until we fix those two things I don’t feel we should pull money out of the public school system.”
The school voucher program was a part of a larger education bill that passed through the Senate last week.
