A former Pleasantville High School Graduate from Swan was murdered in West Des Moines on February 12. Just released court documents show the evidence used in the arrest of 27-year-old Nathan Cameron of West Des Moines. According to court documents, on February 12, 2022, at 10:40 pm Trisha Kunze was seen on security footage getting out of an Uber in front of 6377 Vista Drive in West Des Moines where she lived with her boyfriend Nathan Cameron. Kunze is seen on footage walking normally into the building and up the stairs. Cameron arrived in the parking lot of the building at 10:38 pm so he could watch Kunze enter the building. Cameron entered the building at 10:42 pm, and called 911 at 11:01 pm to report Kunze had jumped off their third-floor balcony. Kunze suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on February 13. Some of the injuries sustained by Kunze were found to be inconsistent with a fall including a broken patella, and extensive abrasions on her hands, arms, legs, and feet. Kunze also had injuries to her face that would indicate asphyxia caused by strangulation. Police say the additional injuries were evidence of a violent domestic assault between Kunze and Cameron in which Kunze suffered multiple injuries prior to her death. Court documents also state messages recovered show Cameron threatening to kill Kunze if she is not home before he gets there.
Cameron was arrested on April 1 and remains in Dallas County jail.
