The Knoxville sports schedule has been severely cut due to the weather forecast for today. Boys and girls track and Oskaloosa, boys golf at Pella, and boys and girls tennis have all been called off. The events that are happening is soccer as the Panthers squads go their separate ways. The girls will host Williamsburg tonight at Randy Wilson Track hoping to get their first win of the season. The Panthers are 0-3 but have played Indianola, Newton and Carlisle to open up the season. Senior Player Taylor Jones tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they have to stay positive with everyone.
Jones: “We’re just telling everyone to stay positive because the end game is we want to get to state and win state, and if we keep our eyes on that then we’ll be able to stay focused.”
The Panthers and Raiders have a small history together as the Panthers met Williamsburg in the 2019 regional where the Raiders won that match 3-1. The boys are also looking for their first win and will travel to Albia for their South Central Conference opening match of the season. The boys, like the girls, are opening with a tough stretch of matches coming off a 10-0 loss to Bondurant-Farrar on Tuesday. The girls match is set to begin at 5:30 while the boys will get going at 7:00.
