Norwalk Boys Tennis Will Try to Open Season at Home

(Update: Meet has been postponed)

Norwalk’s boys’ tennis team is hoping the third time’s the charm as they look to get their season underway this afternoon against Urbandale.

The Warriors had their first two meets of the season postponed for various reasons. Norwalk was scheduled to open their season March 29th against Ankeny Centennial, but that was called off due to maintenance being done on the courts. The Warriors’ second scheduled match at Oskaloosa, was postponed due to inclement weather. The two teams have met twice in the last three years, and each team came away with a victory. Urbandale shut out Norwalk last year, 11-0.

The match at Norwalk High School gets underway at 4:15 PM.

Norwalk Girls Soccer Looks to Continue Undefeated Start, Boys Look For First Win

Both of Norwalk’s soccer squads will be in action tonight as they take the pitch looking for victories.

The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls will be at home for a non-conference showdown with Des Moines Lincoln. Norwalk won their first four matches of the season, defeating ADM, Pella Christian, No. 11 in Class 2A Bondurant-Farrar, and No. 12 in Class 3A Ames. The two teams have met four times, with each team taking two matches. Norwalk has outscored Des Moines Lincoln in the previous two matches, 12-0. The match at Norwalk High School gets underway at 7:00 PM.

The Warriors’ boys will be looking for their first win of the season as they go up against 2021 State Qualifier Ankeny Centennial. Norwalk lost their first two matches of the season to Dowling Catholic and Ames. The two teams have met twice over the last few years, and Norwalk has yet to beat the Jaguars in the VarsityBound era. Coach Dustin Kralik tells KNIA Sports that his biggest focus is going to be how organized his team is defensively.

“We’re going to have to play pretty well. We’re gonna have to be really organized defensively. They’re a talented team that went to state last year. They bring a lot of guys back. They’re still pretty young and dynamic. We’re gonna have to be ready to play as a group and then to take advantage of our opportunities when we create them.”

The match at Ankeny Centennial High School gets underway at 7:30 PM.
