A former Pella High School standout golfer is off to a strong start to his spring season in college. Luke Galeazzi was named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for the Hawkeye Community College RedTails.
He was recognized for his performance at the Wartburg Invite at Prairie Links Golf Course on April 1, where Luke finished tied for third out of 85 players. He shot 2 under par for a round of 69, helping the RedTails men’s team win the meet.
Luke was a 2018 individual state qualifier for Pella, placing 25th out of 62 players in Class 3A, and a varsity member of the Pella boys state golf team in 2019. His senior season was cut short due to COVID-19 related cancellations, and he took a gap year before embarking on his collegiate path. Galeazzi competed for Hawkeye Community College this past fall season as well.
