The Pella High School Robotics Club — called the Bionic Dutch, competed in the Iowa Technology Student Association State VEX Robotics competitions. The team spent six6 weeks building and then programming their robot in preparation for the state contest held April 4th and 5th. Early in the first round of the competition, the Robotic Club’s robot suffered a mechanical failure and the team found themselves down by 20 points; but with a quick rebuild and a new game strategy, the team scored 200 points in the final two rounds to win the state title.
