Ranked Eagles Boys Soccer Team’s Early Lead Not Enough as They Fall to DMC

The Eagles #4 ranked boys soccer team in Class 1A hosted Des Moines Christian yesterday, and let an early lead slip away in a 3-1 loss. Pella Christian got on the board first as Alejo Marcon found Theo Hugen on a cross, and Hugen found the back of the net. The Eagles maintained the 1-0 lead through the half before the Lions would find momentum offensively, to pull ahead 3-1 and eventually knock off Pella Christian. Despite the loss, Eagles Senior soccer player Alejo Marcon has been thrilled to see the progress the team has made.

“Last year, we didn’t have the opportunity to win a lot of matches. We had, in my opinion, really bad luck, but I see a lot of progress in the boys and that makes me really happy and really excited for what the season is going to bring us.”

The Pella Christian boys soccer team now has a 2-1 record, and will look to bounce back on tonight at Indianola at 5:30 p.m.

Pella Christian Girls Soccer Shutout at Des Moines Christian

Last season’s State Champion Runner-Up Des Moines Christian girls soccer team proved too much for Pella Christian yesterday, as they knocked off the Eagles 10-0. After 3 Lions’ goals in the opening 28 minutes, the Eagles opted for a stronger offensive lineup, but ended up giving up 7 goals over the final 64 minutes of play. Pella Christian is now 1-2 on the season and returns home today to play Indianola at Pella Soccer Complex at 5:30 p.m.
