The Indianola boys and girls tennis teams, boys and girls soccer teams, and boys and girls track teams were all in action on a packed Tuesday night.
The Indians boys tennis team swept Oskaloosa 11-0 in a Little Hawkeye Conference matchup. Indianola got wins from Jackson Becker, Lane McGraw, Casey Daughenbaugh, Sam Thessen, Nathan Barth, and Jake Gioffredi in singles action, while all six got wins in doubles as well, in addition to Zane Kolosik and Carson Graham and Brant Gicante and Erik Jensen.
The Indians girls tennis team was equally dominant, taking down Oskaloosa 10-1. Indianola swept singles play with Hannah Price, Hayden Laschanzky, Brynn Bishop, Kaelyn Kindelspire, Carmen Christensen, and Keely Gruebel all winning, Audra Dowler and Ella Hildreth as well as Ceris Askelsen and Audrey Troutman added wins in doubles play.
Both tennis teams face off against multiple teams on Friday.
The Indianola boys soccer team won their first contest of the season, taking down Pella Christian 4-0. Jackson Sinclair scored a brace, Eric Schmidt, and Aidan Keller all netted goals for the Indians all in the first half, as they then held the Eagles on a windy night. Indianola improves to 1-5, and play Carlisle tomorrow.
The Indians girls again mirrored the boys, winning 4-1 on the road at Pella Christian. The Indians went up 2-0 with goals from Remy Sivertsen and Abby Jensen, going into half up 2-1. The Indians again scored two in the second half with goals from Annaliese Miller and Remy Sivertsen picking up a second. The Indians are now 3-4, and play Des Moines East tomorrow.
The Indianola boys and girls track and field teams were in action at Urbandale High School, the girls placing 2nd with 123 points, the boys 6th with 60 points.
Top finishes for the girls included Emily Naughton winning the 1500m, the 4×400 relay team placing 1st, 4×100 relay placing 2nd, Jordyn Brown placing 3rd in the 800m, Grace Jackson placing 1st and Julie Coffey 3rd in the shot put, Coffey and Emma Kluver placing 2nd and 3rd in the discus, Grace Gioffredi 2nd in the 100m, Lauren Blake 2nd in the high jump, 4×800 relay team placing 3rd, and sprint medley placing 2nd.
The Indians on the boys side were led by Walker Whalen winning the discus, Gavin Legg winning the high jump, 4×200 relay team placing 1st, 4×100 relay placing 2nd, and the shuttle hurdle relay placing 3rd.
The girls compete Thursday at Knoxville, while the boys host the Indians relays on Friday.
