This weekend was supposed to be the opening weekend at the Knoxville Raceway, but predicted cold and possible rain and snow has caused the raceway to cancel opening week and wait until April 23rd. There are several drivers in new cars, including defending 410 champion Davey Heskin. Heskin will no longer drive the family owned 56N instead driving the 2M for Matt Moro in the 410 class. Heskin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports after borrowing a motor for last season’s 360 Nationals, Heskin and Moro struck up a deal. Moro was wanting to race a little less than in the past and Heskin jumped at the chance.
Heskin: “Matt is really good about getting things organized. And with my kids getting older and getting into tee ball it’s really tough to stay on top of the day to day workings so we’re going to drive for Matt next year.”
Moro is not completely stepping away from the cockpit, as he will drive periodically in the 360 class this season. You can hear a full interview from episode one of the Matt Moro and Karl Chevrolet Sprint Racing Radio Preview show that aired on KNIA in February right now in the podcasts section of kniakrls.com. Also listen for live flag-to-flag coverage of sprint car racing from the Knoxville Raceway on KNIA starting each Saturday with Live Track Side at 5:00 and Race Nights Live at 7:00.
