The Pella School District, as do many across the state, have a list of summer projects to accomplish while students are away. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says for public schools, and in particular Pella, the district utilizes the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy — commonly referred to as PPEL, and the Secure an Advanced Vision for Education, or SAVE tax, to effectively fund needs. He says each year, that includes a refresh of either student or staff technology, renewal of software, smaller maintenance projects and savings for larger initiatives, and typically the purchase of two buses and additional vehicles for the fleet. Earlier this week, the Pella School Board reviewed the 2022 summer project checklist.
