While the Knoxville Raceway will sit silent tonight on what was supposed to be opening night, many of the 410 drivers that will be competing on the weekly basis have already ran several times at other tracks around the country. One that has spent several nights in California is past 410 champion Austin McCarl. McCarl will shelve his familiar 17A for the Country Builders Construction #88. That car is no stranger to Knoxville as it raced during the early part of the season in 2020. McCarl tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he looks forward to the merger of two teams and thinks he may have one of his best rides of his career.

McCarl: “Going to be fun coming back home and my partners and their partners and joining forces from two teams. Going to be fun coming back to tracks I’m familiar with, it’s my truck and equipment with their car so it’ll be fun to get going.”

So far McCarl’s best finish has been a 7th place at Kellar Auto Speedway in Hanford, California back on February 26th. You can hear a full interview with McCarl on episode one of the Matt Moro and Karl Chevrolet Sprint Car Racing Radio Preview Show aired on KNIA in February in our podcasts section at kniakrls.com. Listen for live flag-to-flag coverage of all sprint car action from the Knoxville Raceway every Saturday starting with Live Track Side at 5:00 and Race Nights Live at 7:00.
