Central College Associate Professor of Accounting and 2002 graduate Maggie Schlerman has been selected to participate in Chicago Semester’s Summer 2022 Scholar-In-Residence Program.
Central is one of six founding institutions for the Chicago Semester. This program helps build relationships among faculty from the founding institutions by providing opportunities to conduct research with resources available in Chicago. Schlerman is one of 11 scholars selected for this program. She will spend two weeks during the summer in Chicago furthering her research alongside faculty from other colleges in the Midwest.
Schlerman received her B.A. in business management from Central in 2002 before earning her master’s in accounting from Iowa State University. She has been a faculty member at Central since 2013. During her time at Central, Schlerman’s involvement in the economics, accounting and management department has included acting as the site coordinator for Central’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and leading students on many domestic and international trips.
While participating in the Chicago program, Schlerman intends to redesign Central’s accounting curriculum, complete American Institute of Certified Public Accountants professional development programs and plan for future department trips to Chicago.
