Norwalk Girls Track Wins Lee Town Invitational
Norwalk’s girls’ track and field squad came away with a first-place finish at the Lee Town Invitational in Des Moines East High School.
The Warriors finished with 165 team points, four ahead of second-place Urbandale. Claire Farrell had three first-place finishes for the Warriors, which came in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes. Kady Vandermark placed first in the shot put with a toss of 37’4”. Marin Randall, Kennedy Robbins, Nyah Hulbert, and Raegan Levi placed first in the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:49. Norwalk capped off the meet with a first-place finish in the 4×400 meter relay, ran by Robbins, Breelie Mauro, Ashlyn Brown, and Maya Butler.
Norwalk will be back in action for their next meet Thursday at Indianola.
Norwalk Girls Golf Places Second in Little Hawkeye Conference Triangular
Norwalk’s girls’ golf squad finished right in the middle of the pack with a second-place finish in a Little Hawkeye Conference triangular on their home course.
The Warriors finished with a team score of 214, 20 strokes behind first-place Dallas Center-Grimes and 15 strokes ahead of third-place Pella. Norwalk’s low golfer of the meet was Emi Juergens with a score of 51. Nikko Higgins finished one stroke behind Juergens with a 52. Emma Tomlinson rounded out the Warriors’ top three with a 55. Norwalk’s record now stands at 9-1 overall and 2-1 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
Norwalk will be back on the course Thursday for an invitational at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa.
Norwalk Boys Tennis Drops to Urbandale, In Action With Girls Against Ballard
Norwalk’s boys’ tennis squad got a second meet in the books, but lost to Urbandale 9-2.
The Warriors fought hard but ultimately came up short against a very good Urbandale team. Norwalk’s two match wins came in doubles. Hayden Steele and Cameron Nguyen got a victory in straight sets. Grant Kimball and Kaden Tomkins got the doubles match win in three sets. With the loss, Norwalk’s match record stands at 0-2 with an 0-1 record in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
The boys’ tennis squad will be back in action today along with the girls in a make-up match against Ballard. Both matches get underway at 2:00 PM.
Norwalk Soccer Sweeps Oskaloosa
Both of Norwalk’s soccer squads came away with shutout victories over Little Hawkeye Conference foe Oskaloosa.
The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls eclipsed a season-high in goals, shutting out Oskaloosa 13-0. Three different players scored multiple goals for the Warriors. Jocelyn Bice led the way with five goals. Braelyn Clark had a hat trick and Anna Larson had two goals. Norwalk also had four different players with multiple assists. Clark and Kenzie Hodge had three, while Serenity Madonia and Reagan Teut each had two. With the win, Norwalk’s record improves to 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
The Warriors’ boys got their third win and second win in Little Hawkeye Conference play with a 4-0 win. Three Warriors scored goals, led by Jack Brown with two. Caden Endres and Noah Buhrow each had a goal as well. Spencer Taylor had three assists on the night. With the win, Norwalk improves to 3-5 on the season and 2-1 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
Both teams will be back in action Thursday with the boys traveling to Johnston while the girls will be at home against Urbandale.
