Brock Benner scored two goals and the Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad never gave Chariton much on offense until late in the match in a 4-1 Panther victory on Friday night. The match was moved from Chariton to Knoxville due to unplayable field conditions in Chariton and Knoxville was only happy to host on the turf at Randy Wilson Track. Benner got the scoring started in the 1st half with a goal with 23:30 left and the Panthers held a 1-0 lead at the halftime break. In the 2nd half, Knoxville put more pressure on Chariton and never allowed the Chargers any chances until a goal with 6:40 left when the match was already decided. Tyler Kearney and Hayden Lee also nailed goals for Knoxville, who improved to 3-4. The Panthers hit the road for two matches today at Boone. The Panthers will play the host Toreadors in game one and then either Iowa Falls or Des Moines North in game two. Coach Dylan Mick tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the guys have been looking forward to this weekend for a chance to bring home some hardware.

Mick: “We’re hoping to go up there and get a couple of wins and get a trophy. I don’t think any of the guys were on the team that won in Fort Madison so we’re hoping to go up to Boone and get a trophy.”

Mick adds his guys overall played well on Friday night and he was able to pull his varsity in the 2nd half to rest up for today’s action.
