Neither the Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad nor the Boys Soccer Squad got to play on Saturday due to rainouts. The tennis squad made it to Des Moines before having to turn around and return home on their trip to Atlantic. Meanwhile the soccer squad never got to play in the Boone invitational. Boys tennis will host Grinnell at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts on Monday while boys soccer will travel to Newton also on Monday. Along with the boys, the girls will be in action at Randy Wilson Track against Chariton. Knoxville is 3-5 at the halfway mark of the season and has one of the toughest non-conference slates around. The Panthers hope that benefits them tonight when they host the Chargers. One thing that Coach Matt Ritchhart is hoping to see is finding scoring chances when presented.

Ritchhart: “We’ve been practicing where to place shots, you just can’t depend on the goalkeeper to make a mistake especially at the level we have seen this season. You have to make sure you’re taking the right angle and dribbling the correct way before you shoot.”

Meanwhile boys golf heads to Chariton for an 18-hole meet and girls tennis travels to Grinnell.
