Norwalk Boys Tennis Loses to Indianola, Both Tennis Teams Take On Pella

 

Norwalk’s boys’ tennis squad came out on the wrong side of the result at Indianola Monday, losing 10-1.

 

The Warriors’ lone match win came in a singles match by Austin Mills. Mills won the match, 7-5, 6-4. Norwalk fought valiantly, but ultimately came up short, as two of their matches were decided by third-set tiebreakers against the Indians. With the loss, Norwalk drops to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.

 

The Warriors’ boys will be back in action along with the girls’ team against Little Hawkeye Conference foe Pella today. Both meets will get underway at 4:15 PM.

 

Norwalk Girls Track and Field Place 1st, Boys Travel to Carlisle

 

Norwalk’s girls’ track and field squad continued their great season with another first-place finish at Winterset Monday.

 

The Warriors finished with 190 team points, 65 ahead of second-place Carlisle. Norwalk got two first-place finishes from Claire Farrell, both in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Kate Desmond had a first-place finish and broke a school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.16 seconds. Other first-place finishes came from Kady Vandermark in discus and shot put. The Warriors also placed first in three teams events, which were the 4×200 meter, 4×400 meter, and 4×800 meter relays.

 

The Warriors’ boys will be back in action today for another meet at Carlisle. That meet gets underway at 4:30 PM. The Warriors’ girls will be at Carlisle Thursday.

 

Norwalk Boys Soccer Loses to Des Moines Valley, Both Soccer Squads Take On Newton

 

Norwalk’s boys’ soccer squad continued their rough season with a loss at West Des Moines Valley Monday night, 3-1.

 

The Warriors gave up all three of Valley’s goals in the first half. Norwalk was able to make it a scoreless second half, but it ultimately wasn’t enough. The loss drops Norwalk to 3-7 on the season and 2-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Coach Dustin Kralik says that his focus is going to be on his team’s effort and competitiveness.

 

“Keep fighting, keep believing, keep competing every day. They know the schedule comes down a little bit. Our schedule is not quite as full in the second half of the season, so we get a little more rest.”

 

Both soccer squads will be back in action for matches against Little Hawkeye Conference foe Newton today. Both matches get underway at 7:00 PM.
