The Knoxville School Board met in a regular session on Monday. The board approved an amendment to the 2021-2022 certified budget. The amendment will not increase taxes as the reason for the amendment was for expenditures related to the Covid 19 response. The board approved the proposal for part-time employee insurance. The proposal is for health and dental benefits. Under the proposal, the school district would pay for 50% of the monthly premiums for coverage with the employees paying the other 50%. The board approved a resolution for the issuance of $790,000 of general obligation school bonds and will consider adopting UMB Bank of West Des Moines to serve as the paying agent. The board approved overnight/out of state requests from the Knoxville High School Science Club and FFA. The Science Club trip would be to Acadia National Park in Maine, Great Lakes, Flight 93 Memorial, and historic sites in Boston. The FFA trip would be to Washington D.C. for the Washington Leadership Conference.
