The Pella City Council will meet today. A public hearing is scheduled for a fuel oil storage tank enclosure at the Pella Diesel Power Plant. A tabled resolution related to a preliminary plat for the Dingeman Subdivision is back on the agenda, as is a motion to schedule a public hearing for vacation of public right-of-way for Orchard Drive south of Monroe Street. The first readings of an ordinance expanding civil penalties for indecent exposure in the community and an ordinance to expand uses for design permits as it relates to peddlers in the Oskaloosa Street Corridor are also on the agenda. During policy and planning, the council will discuss a proposed ordinance for the City of Pella to take over operations of Pella Community Ambulance, which operates as a non-profit partner of the community currently, which includes discussion about organizational structure, service outside of the City Limits, fees, and creation of a new advisory board. A discussion will also be held about potential sidewalk extension projects related to the new Timberview rezoning process and in other areas of town, as well as an update relating to the city’s sidewalk inspection program.
