The Melcher-Dallas School District is expanding its high school, adding classrooms and a new gym. Melcher-Dallas Schools Superintendent Scott Bridges spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about how the market has affected the planning of the project.

“The market right now is volatile with prices as they seem to go up every day and construction is very expensive right now, either due to workforce shortages or material shortages. We have been very cautious throughout this process and have done our due diligence so that we can get this under budget so we can get the project started on time.”

The district hired DCI to help them with the project and Bridges talks about how, with projects like this, a group like DCI is beneficial to how technical projects are.

“There was a time 20-25 years ago when you did a project where your Superintendent and maybe your Maintenance Director would meet with people to make sure things were going as planned. Everything is so technical now that we tend to hire groups like DCI construction management companies that do that work for us.”

Bids for the project will be received on May 5 and a bid will be awarded on May 10.
