The Indianola boys soccer team won 4-2 over Oskaloosa in Little Hawkeye Conference play, while the Indians boys tennis squad fell to perennial power Ballard 7-4 Tuesday.
Sage Chapman earned the hat trick for the Indians soccer squad as he helped build the lead with his three goals, while Sam Alexander had the other goal to get to the final tally for the squad. Head coach Heath Weeks said the program continues to build, and one of the areas he is looking for growth is with the senior class making strides and setting examples for the underclassmen. Indianola improves to 4-10 on the season, and step out of conference play to face Winterset Friday.
Indianola nearly pulled off the upset over Ballard falling 4-7 Tuesday, getting wins from Jackson Becker and Sam Thessen in singles play, in addition to the duos of Casey Daughenbaugh/Thessen as well as Brant Gicante/Erik Jensen in doubles play, with two additional losses coming in third set tiebreakers to decide the match. The Indians next compete in the conference meet at the Indianola tennis complex today.
