indianola-8

Both the Indianola boys and girls golf squads competed at their respective Little Hawkeye Conference meets Monday, while the Indians boys tennis squad saw their season come to a close at their state qualifying meet.

The Indians tennis squad had individual state qualifiers attempt to get to the state’s highest level, but they fell just short finishing fourth as a team, with senior Lane McGraw making a run to the semifinals to finish in fourth place in the meet. The Indians end the season with an 8-6 record, and graduate a senior class of 12.

The Indians boys came out for a rare spring meet to win the Little Hawkeye Conference meet with a team score of 304. Preston Bily shot a 69 to earn a second place finish, while other Indians scorers included Jackson Overton with a 73, and Cooper Nailor and Graham Hilton carding 81’s.

The Indians girls placed third at their LHC meet at Pella, led by All-Conference performers Kinzey Johnston and Camryn Overton who each shot a 93, Hanna Graham earned a 102, while Bella Parker carded a 107. Head coach Rita Doane says the team is getting results from a variety of courses which will make them improve, then they are already looking to start practicing the shots they need to qualify for state. The Indians next golf today at Ottumwa.
