Demolition of the north half of Caldwell Park has begun in anticipation of reconstruction of University and East 8th Streets by the City of Pella and new tennis courts by the Pella Community School District.

Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling says work has started to remove the old baseball field, tennis courts, and fencing from the current space and begin groundwork soon to get a new tennis facility constructed.

Additionally, the Pella City Council anticipates reconstruction of the south and east adjacent streets to the courts project to proceed soon, with East 8th expected to reopen by school starting in August, and University Street by the end of October.
