Pella Christian Golf Advances to District Tournament

The Pella Christian boys golf team picked a great time to play their best round of the season, as they placed second in the class 2A sectional tournament at Gateway Recreation Golf Course in Monroe with a team score of 326.

Eliot Menninga had a stellar day for the Eagles. Menninga set a team low score for the season, a career personal best, and was the medalist for the day with a 73. Isaiah Breems also medaled at 4th place overall for the tournament with a personal best 78.  Dane Geetings turned in a solid 87 and Kyle Gao shot an 88.  Cooper Spronk and Deacon Branderhorst rounded out the lineup for P.C. carding an 89 and a 92 respectively.

With their second-place finish, the Eagles advanced to the district tournament on Monday at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center.

Eagles Track and Field Competing in State Qualifier Today

The Pella Christian track and field teams will compete in a stacked class 2A field at PCM High School today to qualify for the state meet at the Drake Blue Oval. The top two qualifiers in each event will automatically qualify for state, while the next eight best performances will earn an at-large bid that will be determined later.

Eagles currently holding a top-two place among those in attendance include:
Levi Schelhaas – 400m dash
Trevor Veenstra – shot put and discus
Peyton Ritzert/Luke Nikkel/Daniel Andringa/Levi Schelhaas – 800 sprint medley relay

Currently in the top five and battling for a top two spot includes:
Levi Schelhaas – 200m dash
Daniel Andringa – 400m dash
Peyton Ritzert – 400m hurdles
Drew Geetings – high jump
Peyton Ritzert/Cooper Spronk/Daniel Andringa/Levi Schelhaas – 4x400m Relay

Currently holding a top-two place for the Pella Christian girls squad includes:
Cara Veenstra – High Jump

Currently in the top five and battling for a top two spot includes:
Ellison Ritzert/Faith Kacmarynski/Karlie Anderson/Amelia Boender – 800 sprint medley relay

The district qualifying events at PCM begin at 4pm.
