The regular season of high school soccer ended for the Tulip City teams against each other, with Dutch domination in the showdowns Monday. The #13 Pella girls won 5-0 over Pella Christian, while the #8 Dutch defeated the Eagles boys 8-0.
At Pella High School, the Dutch had a pair of goals from Abby Warner headers from Claire Smock and Kaylee Van Polen assists — and that duo also scored, as did Anneka Stoltzfus. Pella scored twice in the final minute of both the 1st and 2nd half. The Pella girls finish the regular season at 9-6 overall and in 3rd place in the Little Hawkeye Conference and are off until they play the winner of Liberty and Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, May 23rd. Pella Christian is 6-7 overall and 5th in the LHC, and will host Grand View Christian Wednesday in the regional postseason opener.
The Dutch offense created several issues for the Eagles boys on Eagle Lane, scoring five goals in the first half. Austin Bone led the way with two goals for Pella, followed by one each for Teddy Apostolopoulos, Isaac Semini, Logan Solomon, Logan Schroeder, Preston Rowe, and Tyson Barnes. Pella’s ranked boys are 15-2 and 3rd place in the LHC, and they open the postseason Monday after a first round bye. The Eagles boys are 6-9 and head to Williamsburg to begin the 1A district playoffs.
