May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental Health has become a larger topic of discussion and many do not understand the signs of mental health issues. Executive Director of NAMI South Central Iowa Megan Cockriel spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about signs to look for if someone may be experiencing mental health issues.

“The one thing I have seen is withdrawing from people. That has been one of the main signs when someone hides in the house and they lose interest in things they have been passionate about. We need to be aware of this and to reach out to people and make sure they are ok. If you stop hearing from someone you should check in on them.

NAMI South Central Iowa serves Marion County along with ten other counties. For more information go to kniakrls.com and click on this story.
