The Pella girls tennis team has qualified for state for the 3rd time under Head Coach Josh McCollam after defeating rival Pella Christian Tuesday on Eagle Lane by a 5-0 score. The Dutch ended the best-of-nine by winning their first five singles matches, including two third set tiebreakers for Alloree Else and Claire Smock. The #4 ranked Dutch girls are set to compete against #6 Davenport Assumption Saturday in Grinnell in the state quarterfinals.
The #2 in 1A Pella boys tennis team is hoping to continue its journey as a team today against Shenandoah in the substate finals and then state later today against Ballard or Pella Christian. Head Coach Josiah Brandt says the team’s goal is to always compete on the last day of the season in the final four, knowing it means more special moments in between.
