pleasantville-3

A legendary Pleasantville softball coach was nominated for the Iowa Girls’ Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame, while Pleasantville’s girls’ golf squad placed third at Lynnville-Sully.

Former longtime Softball Coach Jan Haugen has been selected to the 2022 Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association Softball Coaches’ Hall of Fame. Haugen won 535 career games in 41 years of coaching across four Iowa high schools. Haugen coached for Garnavillo, Mediapolis, South Winneshiek, and Pleasantville. Haugen is the first Pleasantville softball coach to be nominated for the Hall of Fame. Haugen is also the second softball coach from the West Central Conference to be nominated into the Hall of Fame, joining Jeff Cupp of Woodward-Granger. Haugen left Pleasantville after a 17-20 season in 2021, including a 15-5 record in West Central Conference play.

The Trojans finished with a team score of 406, missing out on qualifying as a team by 14 strokes to BCLUW. Pleasantville will have one individual qualify for the state tournament next week, who is senior Kristen Roe. Roe placed fourth overall with a score of 87, 13 strokes off of meet medalist Greenlee Smock from Lynnville-Sully.

This concludes Pleasantville’s girls’ golf season as a team. Roe will compete in the state tournament in Ames next week.
