Pella Boys Soccer Advances to Substate Final; Girls Open Regionals at Home
Pella is back to the boys soccer substate finals after a semifinals 3-0 win over Oskaloosa Monday. The rematch from a penalty kick showdown in the regular season was all Dutch, as the #8 in Class 2A team dominated both sides of the field. Isaac Semini scored twice in the first half to give the home team a comfortable lead and Logan Solomon iced the contest with 20 minutes remaining with a goal of his own. Levi Van Dusseldorp, Camden Bryngelson, and Austin Bone had assists and Tyler Killoren saved six shots. Pella has a 2021 substate rematch with Fort Madison Wednesday; the Dutch and Bloodhounds went to penalty kicks with a state bid on the line one year ago, with a 3-0 margin in PKs finished off by now-graduate Will Rasmussen to send the green and white back to state. Fort Madison knocked off Washington 4-0 to advance. This Wednesday’s rematch can be viewed on Pella Dutch Live.

Dutch Softball Holds Off Colfax-Mingo on Opening Day
A strong seven-run top of the 1st inning set the Pella softball team at the right tone to start the 2022 season, but the Dutch had to hold off Colfax-Mingo 10-9 in an offensively-inclined opening night. The home team Tigerhawks answered that strong start with five runs in the bottom of the 1st, and the teams traded runs in the 4th and 5th innings, but the Dutch never lost their lead. Pella racked up 13 hits, including a 3-for-5 night with a stolen base for Katie Pollock, and 2-for-4 evenings from Kiki Riggen, Thea Wisse, and Hunter Hughell. Ava Curry had a double and triple on a 2-for-5 night. Ella Corbin struck out six in a complete game effort, but also spotted Colfax-Mingo 17 baserunners. The Dutch softball team is 1-0 and heads to PCM Thursday.
