The Class 2A #7 ranked Pella Christian softball team traveled to Williamsburg Saturday for their first weekend tournament of the season and went 1-1 on the day. The Eagles knocked off Class 2A’s #13 ranked Durant squad 5-3, before falling to Class 3A’s #8 ranked Bondurant-Farrar 6-4.
Much like Friday night, Pella Christian got off to a quick start as a one-out single by Faith Kacmarynski led to an RBI single from Natalie Harrill. After a scoreless bottom of the first and second inning, Durant would come back and tie the game in the bottom of the third, but the Eagles would reclaim the lead in the fourth after Emri Agre came into score. Agre then added three insurance runs for P.C. in the top of the fifth with a three-run home run. The Wildcats added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Eagles would hang on to pick up their second win of the year.
Playing as the home team for the first time this season in game two, Pella Christian fell in a 3-0 hole after the top of the first inning against Bondurant-Farrar. The Eagles responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first, but another three runs from the Blue Jays in the second inning would prove to be the difference in the ball game.
With the split the Pella Christian softball team’s record is now 2-2 on the season. The Eagles will look to get above .500 on Tuesday when they host Albia.
