The #7 ranked Pella Christian softball team grabbed their third win of the season Tuesday night in their home opener with a 7-2 victory over Albia, while a Blue Demons comeback handed the #9 ranked Eagles baseball team their first loss of the season in a 7-6 ballgame.

The Eagles softball bats came out hot to start the game as a Faith Kacmarynski single set up a two-run home run by Natalie Harrill. P.C would keep the pressure on Albia, as Emma Eckhoff came in to score to put the Eagles up 3-0 after the first inning. Albia would cut the lead to one after plating their lone two runs of the night in the top of the second inning, but Pella Christian would push the lead back to 4-2 after Emri Agre came in to score in the bottom of the frame. Sydney Nunnikhoven would score in both the third and fourth innings and Trinity Vos would score in the fourth to give the Eagles all the run support they would need to down Albia.

In the baseball home opener, Pella Christian grabbed the early advantage with the game’s first four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Despite grabbing the momentum in the third, walks and errors would come back to haunt the Eagles. Albia would rally to score all seven runs in the final three frames on just two hits, as P.C. walked eight batters and committed five errors on the night. In spite of that, Pella Christian had the game-tying run at second base with two outs, but a strike-out would end the game and hand the newly ranked Eagles their first loss of the year.

The Pella Christian softball team improved to 3-2 with their win, while the baseball squad fell to 3-1 on the year. Both Eagles team return to the field today with a doubleheader at Indianola.
