The Tulip Time Steering Committee, Pella Historical Society, and other community volunteers and organizations gathered at a wrap-up breakfast Monday. Executive Director of Pella Historical Society and Museums Valerie Van Kooten says initial estimates indicated a record-breaking crowd May 5-7, and that’s being backed up now as revenue comes in, as based on net revenue, this was the biggest year ever. Van Kooten says approximately 1/5th of their overall budget comes from Tulip Time, and she’s thankful to have had such a successful year after the 2020 cancellation and a more modest festival with restrictions in 2021. While the summer slows down a bit, planning for the 2023 celebration on May 4-6 begins later in the summer into the fall.
