The Class 2A #8 ranked Pella Christian softball team is only two and a half weeks into their season this summer and have already been dealt a difficult hand.
While injuries happen to every team, the Eagles have already had to work with five different catchers in their first thirteen games. With players changing positions frequently, errors are bound to happen, but Pella Christian Senior Trinity Vos says that their steady improvements boil down to having grace.
“When you’re trying to get into a new position, you can’t expect perfection first time around. So yeah, just a lot of grace and understanding that we can’t be perfect the first time around or perfect in general. So, I think that’s been a huge key, is just being understanding in those circumstances.”
Junior Emri Agre adds that while mistakes happen, the team is always there for one another.
“Every player knows that we have each other’s back. So, we all know that a lot of people are in different spots and different positions and just it’s hard. And so yeah, we’re just full of grace, and we know that they are doing their best.”
The 5-8 Eagles softball team will look to snap their four-game losing streak tonight at 7:15 p.m. against Newton, and the 4-7 P.C. baseball team will look to get back in the win column at 7:30 p.m. also at Newton.
