City of Indianola Water Resource Recovery Department employees were honored by the Water Environment Federation for their work on the new state-of-the-art Water Resource Recovery Facility in Indianola.

Department Director Rick Graves received the prestigious William D. Hatfield Award for outstanding performance and professionalism in the Operation of a Wastewater Treatment Facility. The award was established in honor of Dr. William D. Hatfield, Superintendent of the Decatur, Illinois Sanitary District, who was President of the Central States Sewage Works Association in 1944-45 and served as President of the Federation in 1958-59. In order to be eligible, the nominee should have contributed to the dissemination of information concerning advancements in the field.

Water Pollution Control Operator Kevin Crawford was accepted into the Golden Manhole Society, a professional society as part of the Water Environment Federation that recognizes significant contributions by individuals to the field of wastewater collection systems.
