Pella celebrated Independence Day Monday. Activities started in the afternoon with swimming at the Pella Aquatic Center. Kids games, crafts, activities, and food stands at Central Park, fishing at Caldwell Park, downtown carriage rides, and entertainment on the Tulip Toren were all highlighted as well. Those led up to the annual parade, with dozens of floats and entries moving through downtown Pella. New this year was a heroes display, with vehicles from first responders parked along Franklin Street.

The Pella City Band performed patriotic marches on the Tulip Toren after, leading up to Fireworks near Madison Elementary at 10 p.m. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio and Big Red Radio participated in area 4th of July celebrations, with special patriotic music that aired on KNIA/KRLS during community fireworks displays.
