A week after a disheartening loss at Coe, the Central College football team will aim to begin its comeback trail today, as the Dutch travel to Mount Vernon to face Cornell. Central is ranked 9th in the latest D3Football.com poll, while the Rams are looking for their first win this season.
Last season, the Dutch hung a 55-0 loss on Cornell at Schipper Stadium, but in 2008 a fired-up Rams squad took Central all the way to overtime before the Dutch were able to sneak away with a narrow victory. Central Head Coach Jeff McMartin says his team can’t afford to make similar mistakes as what happened two years ago and overlook a Cornell squad that he says is hungry for a victory.
This afternoon’s Central football game can be heard live on 92.1 fm KRLS, with Eric Gotschall providing the play-by-play. Coverage from Ash Park in Mount Vernon begins at 12:45, with kickoff between the Dutch and the Rams set for 1:00. You can also hear the game streamed live on our website; www.kniakrls.com.
