An incident involving a semi-tanker carrying hazardous materials occurred in the 1100 block of Lincoln Street in Knoxville at approximately 4:28 pm on Thursday. The truck was trying to turn around and damaged its rear tires, making it unable to move and blocking the road. No materials were spilled. At 6:16 pm, Knoxville Fire Department was paged to assist with the hazardous material issue. After collecting information, the Marion County Hazardous Materials Team was called to assist. A safety zone was established, and residents within the vicinity were asked to leave immediately or shelter in place. Surrounding businesses were closed as well. A second truck was brought in to transport the materials and the first truck was fixed and left as well. The road was reopened. 

 The Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Marion County EMA, Marion County HazMat Team, Pella EMS, Indiana Township EMS, Iowa DOT, Alliant, Mid-American, and Knoxville Street Department.
