The unemployment rate remained low in May, according to the latest data from Iowa Workforce Development.
In Marion County, the percentage is down to 1.7. That’s a slight increase from 1.6% in April and a decrease from 3.4% in May 2021. There are 18,850 employed residents and 320 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.
In Warren County, the percentage slightly increased to 2%. That unemployment rate was 1.9% in April and 4% in May 2021. There are 28,200 employed residents and 500 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.
Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 2.7 percent in May, down from 3.0 percent in April and from 4.5 percent one year ago. Job growth was mirrored in the Labor Force Participation Rate, which grew to 67.6 percent last month. The U.S. May unemployment rate remained at 3.6 percent for the third straight month.
