The Twin Cedars softball team is in the final eight of Class 1A softball after a classic with Sigourney Monday night, winning 7-6. The Sabers had a walk-off hit in the 7th from Ali Mockenhaupt after a pair of home runs in the 1st inning game them a lead. This is the first time Twin Cedars will be represented at the State Softball tournament since 1978.

Twin Cedars next plays on Tuesday, July 19th at 7:30 p.m. vs. Lisbon, which can be heard on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella won Monday 9-2 over Newton to advance to the Class 3A Substate finals vs. Grinnell Wednesday, and Indianola defeated Ankeny 8-5 to take on Urbandale on the same day with state tournament bids on the line. Indianola hosts Glenwood tonight to go to state in softball (94.3 KNIA) and Norwalk will take on Benton at home (KNIA3). Coverage begins at 6:45 this evening.
