Many of the smaller schools that make the state tournament each year in Fort Dodge likely load their schedule up with larger schools in the non-conference portion of the season. Southeast Warren is no different as the Warhawks played several 2A and larger schools to get themselves ready for the class 1A postseason this summer. Coach Cody Reynolds tells KNIA Sports the large competition prepares his team for the regional games and this week in the State Tournament.

Reynolds: “Any time you face better competition, I think it prepares you to face these harder teams in the regional. We don’t win all of them, but it gets us ready to play in these must win games in the regional and help advance us to Fort Dodge.”

Southeast Warren plays in the Pride of Iowa Conference which is made up of 1A and smaller 2A schools. Southeast Warren played Indianola, ADM, Mount Ayr, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, and Van Meter…all of who were ranked and made the State Tournament. The Warhawks will play Remsen St. Mary’s Tuesday evening at 5:30.
