With summer heat expected to continue throughout the month, Indianola Municipal Activities is asking customers to reduce their electric usage to help manage the electric load demand and conserve energy during peak demand times and high air conditioner usage.

Peak demand is the time when consumer demand for electricity is at its highest, tending to be in the afternoon between 3-7pm during summer months. IMU recommends limiting electrical usage by setting the thermostat a few degrees higher, closing shades and drapes to help keep the house cool, keep vents clean and clear of furniture and other obstructions, and keep your air conditioner unit clear of grass, weeds, and shrubs to allow air flow.

The use of heat-generating appliances such as ovens, dishwashers, and dryers should be used early in the morning or late in the evening. For more information, click below.
