Practices are underway and the 2022 fall sport season is just around the corner at Norwalk Community High School.
Over the next two weeks, Warrior student-athletes will be opening their seasons in football, volleyball, cross country, boys golf and girls swimming.
The boys golf team will lead the charge, scrimmaging Dallas Center-Grimes this Friday at Willow Creek Golf Course in West Des Moines and starting the season Monday, August 15, at noon with the Ankeny Centennial Invitational at Briarwood Country Club. The Warrior golfers will compete in seven meets between August 15 and September 1.
The Norwalk volleyball team, guided by a new head coach in John Fulton, will participate in a scrimmage at Johnston High School on Saturday, August 20. The Warriors will open their season at home on Tuesday, August 23, facing Bondurant-Farrar at 7:15 p.m.
The Norwalk girls and boys cross country teams will also begin their season on Tuesday, August 23, traveling to the Des Moines Area Community College campus to compete in the Ankeny Centennial Invitational at 5:00 p.m.
Girls swimming also gets underway on Tuesday, August 23, with Norwalk’s swimmers competing as members of the Des Moines Lincoln Rails. The opener is a dual vs. Marshalltown at the Lincoln High School pool.
And last but not least, the Norwalk football team opens its 2022 season on Friday, August 26, with a non-district showdown at Pella. Varsity kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Warriors will warm up for the season with a scrimmage at Pleasant Valley on Thursday, August 18. The start time is tentatively set for 5:00 p.m.
