For the second straight night at the Knoxville Raceway, it came down to two drivers. Logan Schuchart and Donny Schatz. Just like Sunday night at the Capitani Classic, the two waged a battle for top honors on Night One of the 61st Running of the Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals heard live on KNIA. For the second straight night it was Schuchart that won out running Schatz to the line. After an early yellow, Schuchart took off and looked to be in a zip code of his own, but Schtaz chipped away at his lead and was sniffing his tail tank until a lapped car slowed Schatz’s momentum. It was an unusual night where 17 of the top 20 in time trials failed to get out of their heat race. David Gravel passed Gio Scelzi out of turn four to claim third place. After night one, Schatz and Gravel have high points with 469, 3rd Brent Marks at 462, Parker Price-Miller, who got quick time has 457, and 5th is Justin Sanders at 456.
