The Knoxville Public Library will be hosting a Marion County Writers Workshop Thursday, August 18 from 6-8 p.m. for a reading and signing of their newly published novel “The Peace Tree Mystery.”

Knoxville Library Director Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS, “We have a writers workshop, a group of writers who have gotten together and written a  book about “The Peace Tree,” which is exciting. Dr. Van Natta in charge of that group. One or more of them will be here Thursday and they will talk about their new book.”

The book centers around a huge old sycamore tree that dates back to at least the 1700s and was located near the town of Red Rock before the lake was flooded.

Copies of the book will be on sale at the event. Later in the month, August 25th will be an open house at the library for local artist Earl Pearson between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Some of Earl’s work has been on display in the hallway at the library this summer. A broader selection will be on display for the reception. Light refreshments will be served.
