There were 14 accidents during the running of the 2022 Knoxville Nationals. Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller tells KNIA/KRLS News that the number is a little higher than normal.
Fuller says it was a very busy Nationals for his department. Among the most major arrests were those for OWI and Drug arrests. The 360 Knoxville Nationals proved to be busier for his department than the 410 Nationals.
According to Chief Fuller in comparing the 2021 Nationals to 2022, the 2021 Nationals were considered mild and tame for his department compared to 2022.
The Knoxville Police Reserves put in between 150 and 180 hours this year during Nationals. Fuller said paying reserves helps to motivate them.
