The Pella Christian volleyball team is looking to fill the shoes of their four graduated seniors from last season’s team, and many of the girls vying for those spots are sophomores.
Despite it being just their second year of high school volleyball, the Eagles sophomores have a lot of varsity experience. Chloe Huisman, Emma Eekhoff, and Faith Kacmarynski all played in at least 29 of Pella Christian’s 39 matches last season. The Eagles will add more sophomores into the mix this fall and following a good season last year and a solid offseason, Head Coach Tammi Wight is excited by what she has seen.
“A couple of the girls played JV last year and have really come a long way over the summer in open gyms and then they’ve gotten in the weight room, which is important. They’re really doing well, and I feel like a lot of these sophomores that are coming in really have a high ceiling and that group is a really solid group and I feel like we have a good future with some of these kids.”
Pella Christian volleyball opens the season on August 27th with a weekend tournament at Bondurant-Farrar.
