Last fall, Pella Christian football had one of the most explosive offenses in all of Class 1A, and a key part of that was a dominant passing attack.
While the Eagles return 3rd team all-state quarterback Isaac Kacmarynski, Pella Christian graduated their top three wide receivers from last season who accounted for 70% of the team’s receptions and 76% of the receiving yards. While the Eagles believe the receivers currently on the roster can step up and try to fill some of that workload, Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says the offense will utilize the running game more than in years past.
“I think we’re going to look a little different. I think we’ll have a renewed emphasis on running game. I think that Benny Schirz is another year stronger, another year better. Cooper Sprunk did come on for us last year at the end of his freshman year, I think he’s gonna have a great year as well. Isaac is obviously a very dynamic thrower and runner. And Johnson Morgan is actually looked really good, another sophomore running back. So, we feel like we got a full stable in the backfield.”
Pella Christian football opens the season one week from today on August 26th, hosting rivals Des Moines Christian.
