The Indianola City Council tabled an amendment to a city ordinance regarding the addition of a 4-way stop at N 9th and Iowa Ave at their most recent meeting. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the council wanted some more information regarding traffic in the area before implementing any change.

“The real concern there is Iowa is a collector street and N 9th feeds into that, and there is often a lot of conflict in the traffic. The discussion really revolved around whether or not that should be a 4-way stop. By federal standards, it doesn’t warrant a 4-way stop, and the council was reviewing it from a holistic standpoint looking at mitigating factors such as the school crossing, Summerset Trail, and parking in that area, and more data was needed before they make a determination which way that should go.”
