Jenny Petersen of Knoxville won first place and a $50 cash award in the Great Iowan Recipe competition judged Sunday, August 14, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Contestants were challenged to share an award worthy recipe that has importance to their family, heritage or legacy.

Entries were judged on taste, presentation and story about the recipe.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year’s Fair.
